How to Get a Library Card
We are pleased that you are interested in becoming a registered borrower at our library!
To sign up for borrowing privileges (a library card), you will be asked to complete an application.
You will need:
- To be at least 16 years of age.
- Photo ID.
- Verification of your current address.
Acceptable forms of verification include:
- Your photo ID
- A piece of first class mail with your name and current mailing address postmarked with the last 30 days.
- A pay stub showing your name and current mailing address within the last 30 days.
If you do not have any of these, we can complete a post card and send it to your current address. Once you receive it, bring it in (along with your photo ID) to obtain your library card.
Parents of children under age 16 and over age 5 can also use these steps to sign their children up for their own library cards. Minors are encouraged to have their own cards.
Mail addressed to "Current Occupant" is not an acceptable form of address verification.
Please arrive at least 30 minutes before the library closes to sign up for a new card. Thank you!
By signing up for borrowing privileges, the borrower agrees to follow the rules and regulations of the Norelius Community Library, to pay promptly all fees charged to them, and to give timely notice of any change of address, name, or other contact information. You will need to renew your account every year to keep your borrowing privileges. Accounts will be deleted after three years of inactivity.
There are an endless number of resources available to you here at the library. Feel free to explore on your own, but you can also ask any librarian for help.
New borrowers are issued a 3-month conditional card with a 5 item checkout limit, two of which can be DVDs. Once you establish a good and reliable borrowing and return history, you will become a full library patron. You can then check out up to 100 items at a time.
Books and audiobooks can be checked out for 14 days at a time. DVDs can be checked out for 7 days. There is a 3 per household limit on DVDs.
You can return items inside at the circulation desk, upstairs in the Children's Library, or in the book drop outside.
We do not have late fees, but we do charge for lost items. Please see a librarian for additional policy information.
